ALLAH revealed Commandments & Codes of Religion to various Prophets at different stages of history for the guidance of Mankind.
The Codes of Religion or the Books of ALLAH are four in number; namely :-
1. TAURAT (OLD TESTAMENT):- TAURAT is the arabic word for the TORAH. Muslims believe it was a holy book of ISLAM given by ALLAH to PROPHET MUSA ALAYHIS SALAAM. All PROPHETS governed by the TAURAT & the meaning of TAURAT as per the QUR'AN is LAW.
2. ZABOOR (PSALMS):- ZABOOR is the holy book revealed by ALLAH to DAWUD (DAVID) ALAYHIS SALAM. Some scholars equate the ZABOOR with the book of PSALMS.
3. INJEEL (NEW TESTAMENT):- Muslims believe INJEEL to be the original GOSPEL of JESUS (ISA) ALAYHIS SALAAM. This book was revealed by ALLAH to PROPHET JESUS (ISA) ALAYHIS SALAAM. The word INJEEL means GOD'S SPELL.
4. THE HOLY QUR'AN:- The HOLY QUR'AN is revealed by ALLAH to the final MESSENGER OF ALLAH MOHAMMAD SALLALAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM. The previous Commandments or Codes of Religion are also incorporated in it. It's verses were inspired & revealed by ALLAH to PROPHET MOHAMMAD SALLALAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM through Angel JIBREEL, & they are still preserved intact in their original form in the arabic language. The QUR'AN describes itself as a book of guidance, sometimes offering detailed accounts of specific historical events, & emphasizing the moral of an event over it's narrative sequence.
